We do not sell, trade or lend your e-mail or any personal information collected to any company or organization; and we provide stringent and effective security measures on our web site. Our web site is hosted on servers owned and managed by a third-party, Netsuite. Our servers automatically log information about visits to our web site in the normal course of establishing and maintaining Web connections. Server logs record statistical information, such as visitors' IP addresses, time and duration of visit, Web pages requested, and identify categories of visitors by items such as domains and browser types. These statistics are reported in aggregate form to us, and we use these information in order to improve our Web site and ensure that it provides the optimal Web experience for visitors. We do not link server log information to any other data in a way that would enable us to identify individual visitors.

When you purchase an item from our store, when you enter promotions, or when you send us an inquiry, we will receive personal identifiable information such as your name, email address and postal code address. We use these information to fulfill your requests such as the purchase of a product, respond to your e-mail and from time to time, unless you have requested otherwise, to inform you about promotions and launching of new products. We do not sell, trade or lend your e-mail or ANY personal information collected to any online or offline store, company or organization. That means your name and address will not show up on any other mailing lists or targeted promotions.

We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt the information you send us through 128bit encryption level when you place an order. This means that the information is first scrambled as it travels through the internet and then decoded by our servers, so the information can not be read while in transit. We encrypt the data transmission not only of your credit card information but all personal identifiable information. So be assured of the security of any transaction in our store.

Shipping Information

Company Policies

Order processing You can order our products on-line through our secure connection to the Internet. You can also place your order by phone. If the items are in stock, your order will usually be processed within 1-2 days of receipts. Our inventory system is online with our website. If the item is sold out, the system will list it as sold out and will not allow you to order it. If the item is on back order, the system will allow you to order it but will tell you "this item may be back order " when you add it to the cart. We do not process orders less than $30 (before tax and shipment). At any time, you can visit our website and log in on My Account and view the status of your order.
 
Prices If your shipment will be delivered in the US, you can purchase our costumes on www.oyacostumes.com where all prices are denominated in US dollars. If your shipment will be delivered in Canada or internationally, you can purchase our costumes on www.oyacostumes.ca where all prices are denominated in Canadian dollars. If you try to order from our US website and your shipping address is not in the US, the system will not allow you to put through the order. Most costumes are available on both websites but we carry inventory in separate warehouses and sometimes they are differences among the location. With the strong valuation of the Canadian dollar in 2007, we have re-priced many of our items in www.oyacostumes.ca and most canadian customers will notice a significant saving on last year prices. At oyacostumes, we do our best to procure at the most competitive prices and pass on these savings to you. When a Canadian supplier does not pass on at least some of the currency exchange gain in their pricing, we reduced our costumes selection from them, at least for their non-licensed items. Nevertheless our Canadian price is not a direct exchange to the US price as it also reflects the cost of procuring the costumes for the Canadian market. We do our best to provide you with the most reliable and up to date information. In the event that an error does occur, we reserve the right to correct or cancel an order. All prices are subject to change without notice.
 
Taxes No Goods and Sales tax is charged to sales in the USA. For sales in Canada, the federal Goods and Sales tax (G.S.T.) of 6% is applied to the subtotal of purchases and shipping cost. The provincial Quebec sales tax will be added to Quebec shipment only.
 
Payment options We accept Visa, MasterCard and PayPall. For credit card purchases, when you place the order, the amount is pre-authorized on your credit card. However we do not receive the funds till we bill you, which we only do after we process and ship the order. Some credit card company may show the amount of the transaction authorization on your credit card. However should we not process the transaction and ship the goods, the amount is reversed automatically. For payment through paypall, the amount is directly charged when you place the order.
 
Tracking order You can visit our website any time and log-in at Your Account and view the status of your order. When we ship your order, we will e-mail you a billing sales order with the Tracking Number of your parcel which will allow you to track the shipment.
 
Return and Exchange Policy You need to contact us within 3 days of receiving the costume by e-mail at returns@oyacostumes.com to advise us you want to return or exchange the costume. The costume has to be in its original packing, and not worn or used. We will issue you a RA number which you will enter on your packing slip/Return form included in your shipment. For exchange, indicate on the return form the item and size you require. Send the Return Form along with your returned items within 2 days of RA issuance. Mail your return back to us (we do not accept C.O.D. deliveries). Once we receive the costume, and inspect it, we will reimburse you the cost of the costume, less 10% handling charge. We do not reimburse the shipping charge of your original purchase. For exchange, we will ship your request by ground delivery and charge you half of the cost. You can request to upgrade to next day delivery and pay the additional charge. For hygienic reason, we cannot accept exchange or returns on makeup, masks, hats and wigs. If you are returning a costume which was shipped to the US, please send your return to

Refund are processed within 2 weeks of receipt except for October Returns which are processed the week of November 10 with no exception. Exchanges in October are processed in the same priority as sales orders.

Oya Costumes is the leading online costumes business based in Montreal, Canada. We are a family run business established since 2004 and we ship our products to 4 continents.

Faten Hodroge is the owner of Oya Costumes and a secret lover of costume. “I have a weakness when it comes to costume dress up, especially the fancy ones with wigs and lavish accessories”. After an international career in finance in three continents, she decided to take a break from the corporate world when her second child was born.

“One day I realized that my oldest who was barely two at the time, had been on over 20 flights. I could not stand being away from her so I would often arrange for her to join me at some of point during the trip. But it did not feel right and I knew I had to stop”.

After a few years as a full time Mom, Faten decided in 2004 to start an internet costume business from Montreal.

“I loved watching my kids dress up with their friends and role playing with costumes. You could feel the excitement in their eyes and just marvel at their incredible imagination. Even when they take-on an existing role, like a Disney princess or a pirate, the story line quickly progresses in different directions as each of them twists and stirs the original story plot. What a difference from watching TV, although I admit my house is now less tidy”.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Faten was disappointed with the quality and choice of costumes at stores outside the Halloween season. On the internet, many merchants cared little about the quality or selection of their line. Perhaps it was much easier to put on the whole suppliers catalogue.

“Oyacostumes is a place where you would go and find high quality costumes at a great price, with the convenience of shopping from the comfort of home. We select our costumes with care and we inspect every single costume prior to adding it to our store. We carefully monitor any complaints or returns and any costume that gets 2 strikes, we don’t carry it anymore.”

In our fourth year of operation, and responding to demand from US customers, Oya costumes established warehouse operation in the US in 2007. We also made major investments in the technology platform to improve client shopping experience. The inventory is now on line so if an item is back ordered or sold out, clients will directly know as they are adding items to their cart. Also shoppers can now trace the status of their order directly on our website. And for 2008, a Euro website is being planned.

And what is in the name of Oya costumes? Oya is an African Goddess, the goddess of storm and winds. She is the only one that dares to confront the spirits of death and accompanies their spirit to the after live not because she is the goddess of death but because she is fearless with great inner strength. She is also goddess of the marketplace and brings fortune to her patrons, provided they are fair and just. And Oya loves to dance. Since Halloween originated with the Celts more than 2000 years ago when they believed that the worlds of the living and dead became blurred, Oya seems truly befitting of a Halloween Goddess.

Oya Costumes is an online costume business. We do not have a store and it is not possible for customers to visit our warehouse. However if you are located in the Montreal region, you can pick up your order directly at our warehouse once the order has been processed. Without exception, all orders have to be placed and paid through the website before being processed and picked up at the warehouse. The table of Size Measurements is very convenient and accurate. Sizing Information

At Oya Costumes we want you to find the right sizing of your costume so that you look your best and feel as comfortable as possible. For each costume we have provided the manufacturer's sizing as sizing can vary from one manufacturer to another. To view the manufacturer sizing, follow the link under the picture of each costume. As each manufacturer has his own measurement, and since we carry costumes from many different suppliers, we strongly recommend you check the sizing chart for each costume you are planning to purchase.

We recommend that you check our measurements when buying your costumes and its always best to keep in mind the following practical guidelines:

• If in doubt over a particular size, it is generally better to choose the larger size.

• Some costumes are more comfortable worn together with undergarments, particularly in cooler temperatures. If an undergarment is to be worn, allow for its added thickness in the selection of costume sizes.

• Certain costumes are intended to be tight-fitting, whereas others are meant to be worn more loosely. Please bear in mind the design and intended look when selecting the appropriate size.
